Lining up for a techincal crit in the 38 degree rain is never all that fun, but Gwen (aka the Sexy Beast) and I had a blast racing together again today! After being on the road these past weeks (and for Gwen, coming back from a broken thumb), it felt great to jump into a local race. I was unsure as to the fitness of the local peloton, but turns out we worried for naught.
The course could be described as a figure 8, with 2 steady hills, followed by a long descent, all wet from the day’s precipitation. Not wanting to get mixed up in any pack mishaps, I jumped the field right at the start. I got away on the hills, and coming into the 2nd lap, Gwen bridged up solo to join me. Once together, we put the hurt on the field, lapping most of the riders, and taking 1st and 2nd. It was fun to race together and to work to stay away. Good wet-weather racing experience, combined with good teamwork and a well organized race made a cold dreary day turn out bright and happy!
Plus, it’s always a good day when you win one free men’s haircut as a prime!!!
Kasey and Gwen go 1-2 at the University Hill Crit
Comment for Clark and Inglis go 1-2 at Boulder Hill Crit
